Svetlana Kravtsova

Mrs. Svetlana Kravtsova is the Founding Artistic Director of L’Etoile/The Russian Ballet Academy of Maryland, LLC.  Mrs. Kravtsova graduated from the National Choreographic College of Ballet, Republic of Moldova.  The National Choreographic College of Ballet was founded on the basis of the Academy of Russian Ballet, A. Vaganova, St. Petersburg, Russia.  Mrs. Kravtsova danced as a Soloist at the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Republic of Moldova for 20 years.  Her repertoire included Principal and Soloist roles in the following ballets: Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Giselle, La Bayadere, Paquita, Don Quixote, La Sylphide, La Fille Male Guardee, Coppelia, Romeo and Juliet, Carmen, and many others from classical and contemporary repertoire.  Throughout her ballet career, Mrs. Kravtsova has worked with famous ballet masters, such as Asaf Messerer, Tatiana Legat, Natalia Dudinskaya, Konstantin Sergeyev, and other famous choreographers and teachers from Bolshoi Theater and Mariinsky Theater.  She toured in many European countries with the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, as well as danced on the stages of Bolshoi Theater, Mariinsky Theater, Mihailovsky Theater of St. Petersburg, and other recognized theaters throughout the former USSR.

Mrs. Kravtsova began her teaching career in 1984 at the National Choreographic College of Ballet, Republic of Moldova.  Her students have participated in various international ballet competitions and have always received awards.  Her students currently work in many prestigious ballet companies around the world.  In 1997, Mrs. Kravtsova and her family moved to the United States.  She worked as a ballet teacher at Ballet Internationale of Indianapolis, Indiana; Kirov Academy of Ballet, Washington, DC; and many other ballet schools.  Mrs. Kravtsova has been invited to guest teach summer intensive classes around the United States.

In 2007, Mrs. Kravtsova and her husband, Mr. Vadim Pijicov, founded The Russian Ballet Academy of Maryland, which also carries the name L’Etoile (the Star).  Mrs. Kravtsova is ABT Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 3 of the ABT National Training Curriculum.  Since the opening of her own ballet school, Mrs. Kravtsova produced the full length Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsaire (Le Jardin Anime), Don Quixote (Dream Scene), La Bayadere (Act II), her own production: Le Masquerade, as well as 4 concert programs entitled “A Tribute to Classical Ballet.”  Her students continuously participate in Youth America Grand Prix ballet competition and are always accepted into the world’s best schools, such as Bolshoi, ABT, Kirov Academy of Ballet, for the summer intensive programs.  Her graduates are always accepted into the most prestigious dance programs of the best Universities in the United States.
